12 days of writing: place

A sense of place

Choose a place to write about. If you're already building a premise and characters, choose where that's set. It can be where you are, where you live, a place you've been, or a place you want to go. Even the most ordinary, familiar setting can create a strong sense of place.

Use this mind map to write about every aspect of the place. If you're already using a character, write this from their point of view. (Click to enlarge it.)

For more on exploring a sense of place, you can download the On Location seed packet as part of Story Elements: The Complete Set - only available until 30 December 2014. Find out more, see previews, and download it here..

Tomorrow we're writing about... Time.
